The Syracuse Mets snapped a six-game skid with a 2-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings in 10 innings on Thursday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
Syracuse opened the scoring and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth on Jake Mangum’s RBI single to center.
The lead did not last as Rochester plated a run in the top of the ninth and tied the game on Nick Banks’ RBI single. That hit ended up sending the game to extra innings.
After the Mets held the Red Wings scoreless in the top of the 10th, Dominic Smith launched a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to give Syracuse the walk-off victory.
The starting pitching was really good on both sides as Joan Adon tossed five shutout innings for Rochester, and Jose Butto fired seven shutout innings for Syracuse.
The six-game series will continue on Friday at 6:35 p.m.
