The Syracuse Mets dropped the series finale to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. Syracuse lost five of the six games in the series.
The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when the RailRiders plated a pair of runs to take the lead. In the eighth, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tacked on three more to make it 5-0. The Mets plated their lone run in the top of the ninth on JT Riddle’s RBI single.
Jose Rodriguez started on the mound for Syracuse and tossed 3 2/3 shutout innings. Yoan López and R.J Alvarez had scoreless appearances in relief. Eric Orze surrendered a pair of runs, while Sam Clay allowed three.
Mark Vientos had a two-hit game for the Mets. Travis Jankowski walked twice and picked up a hit.
Syracuse will get the day off on Monday before they open a six-game series with the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
