Why have there been so many bees lately?
Many have reported seeing more bees, or finding more ground nests in the last few weeks. Some have wondered if it’s an outlier issue.
Yes – there are more bees this time of year. But it’s pretty normal. Most bees in New York are ground-nesting, so between August and September, when they become more aggressive, people notice them.
Experts at Cornell even said that you could be running over nests in the spring and early summer, but when bees become more active in August and September, they suddenly become prominent.
