Man suspected in several burglaries taken into custody after Steuben incident

Steuben County Sheriff’s report the arrest of an individual following an investigation of a reported burglary in process in Lindley.

Rusty C. Lane Jr., 34, of Pine City was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.


Lane was located in a garage that he did not have permission to enter. When deputies attempted to arrest Lane, he damaged a window and refused to submit to his arrest. A K9 was utilized and Lane then submitted to his arrest.

It is further alleged that Lane possessed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Additionally, he was arrested in connection to two active warrants from Chemung County and the Town of Caton. Lane is a person of interest in several reported burglaries and future charges may be pending.

Lane was remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
