Steuben County man charged after attacking, choking deputy

A Campbell man was arrested following an alleged attack on a deputy.

According to a news release, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kris E. Calkins, 50, of Campbell for assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.


It is alleged that Calkins intentionally attacked, choked, and injured a deputy as the deputy was serving as a peacekeeper on Parker Road. The deputy was treated by EMS at the scene.

Calkins will appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
