Seneca Community Players celebrate 50 years on September 17

Fifty years of drama, song, dance and innovative performance will be celebrated at Seneca Community Players golden anniversary show on Sept. 17.

In 1972, three professors at the former Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls collaborated to found the group known informally as SCP and presented a first season of six productions. It was such a success that they knew their idea could succeed, and it did.

Now 50 years later the organization has presented scores of plays, comedies, musicals and other productions – including several contemporary and often controversial works seldom attempted by a group in a small community.

Co-founder Ann Kieffer who now resides in Georgia will be in attendance at the one-performance only celebration as one of the evenings hosts. The other two founding professors, Warren Blackstone and Sig Krueger, are deceased.
