CountryMax begins construction on new Auburn store: Plans to hire 20-25 by January, open in April 2023

CountryMax says construction on its 19th location in Auburn is underway.

The pet supply store will open at 1651 Clark Street Rd., Auburn, New York at the former Aldi’s adjacent to the Fingerlakes Mall.

“People are amazed by the incredible variety of products you can find here,” says Brad Payne, Director of Sales. “We’re not like any other store in the country, literally, and we’re excited to show Auburn exactly what that means.”

CountryMax Stores feature the area’s largest selection of pet supplies, all major brands of dog and cat food, extensive wild bird seed options and feeders, lawn & garden essentials, all kinds of backyard and home décor, unique climate-controlled small pet rooms, hard-to-find “country store” food products from brands like Jake & Amos, and locally made hot sauces.

Now that construction is underway, CountryMax is targeting April 2023 for grand opening.

The existing, former-Aldi structure is being expanded to approximately 26,000 square feet.

The company says it will hire 20-25 full- and part-time employees to operate the store. There will be specialists in pet nutrition, lawn and garden, small animals, nursery stock, and wild bird supplies at the Auburn location.

Like most CountryMax locations, Auburn will feature a fully built-out nursery yard and greenhouse. The warehouse will contain over 50 types of livestock feed, and the exterior yards will hold soils, mulches, stone and other “big bag” lawn and garden items.

“We’re so excited to be adding this location in Auburn, because it’s exactly the type of community CountryMax serves best,” added Payne. “Homeowners who take real pride in their lawns, gardens, pets and outdoor hobbies. With strong roots in Rochester and a growing presence in Syracuse, Auburn is the perfect bridge store between the two markets.”

The company will begin hiring in January 2023.
