Join Seneca County Historian Walter Gable in the second part of a multi-part series in Our Finger Lakes History on the Steamboat Era. From the late 1830s until as late as the 1930s, steamboats provided a major means of transportation for both passengers and cargo in the Finger Lakes. Seneca Lake hosted many of these steamboats, which would zigzag across the lake daily, delivering passengers and cargo to points and even along the Cayuga-Seneca Canal and the Erie Canal.
