New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom will make his season debut against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, Manager Buck Showalter told reporters before Sunday’s game against the Miami Marlins.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner has not pitched in a Major League game since July 7, 2021. deGrom dealt with right elbow inflammation last season and was shut down before the start of this season with a stress reaction on his right shoulder.
deGrom made four minor league rehab starts, two of them with Triple-A Syracuse.
The 34-year-old has a 2.50 ERA over his eight-year MLB career.
