Police say a Rochester man was arrested after a pursuit in the city of Auburn.
Garlyn Gause, 43, of Rochester was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance (as a Class B felony), unlawful fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to stop, speeding, passing a red signal, and moving from lane unsafely.
Police say an officer with the Auburn Police Department attempted to stop Gause on Orchard Street on July 26 around 3 a.m. The vehicle Gause was inside was playing unreasonably loud music, according to police.
The driver, later identified as Gause, then took off, which led to a pursuit through city streets.
When the vehicle finally stopped, Gause got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Police say they recovered 85 individually packaged envelopes containing heroin. They also recovered seven baggies of cocaine.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force and Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
