The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office provided an update Wednesday on a one-vehicle crash that happened on County Road 138 in the town of Ovid earlier this week.
On Monday deputies arrived to find a Toyota pickup truck resting on a culvert pipe connecting Moorehouse Road and County Road 138.
The vehicle involved appeared to have sustained serious damage. The operator was identified as 61-year-old Philip Nelson, of Maine, New York. Other motorists who witnessed the accident said the truck was traveling west when it drifted across the road, striking a ditch, then flipping twice before coming to rest.
Nelson suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by South Seneca Ambulance.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
State police, the Ovid Fire Department, and South Seneca Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
