State police: Drowning ‘accidental’ along Lake Ontario

New York State Police say a downstate resident died after a drowning in Sandy Creek.

The victim, identified as 65-year-old George Vitetta, of Schenectady, was recovered from Lake Ontario after an apparent accidental drowning.

Police did not provide any additional information about the investigation or circumstances.

They thanked a number of agencies, which aided in the search and recovery of Vitetta.
