Veteran starting pitcher Aníbal Sánchez will make a rehab start with the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night against the Worcester Red Sox at Frontier Field.
The right-hander is slated to throw about four innings and 60 pitches, according to Washington Nationals Manager Dave Martinez.
Sánchez has been on the 60-day injured list with a cervical nerve impingement since April 11 (retroactive to April 8).
The 38-year-old has appeared in 350 Major League Baseball games over his 15-year career and won a World Series with the Nationals in 2019.
In other roster news, Washington recalled reliever Sam Clay and optioned reliever Francisco Perez to Rochester.
The first pitch for Tuesday’s series opener against Worcester is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
