There are 1,000 families in Phoenix, Arizona current UBI program rolled out by local government in the U.S.
UBI programs have become popular since the ending of stimulus payments from the federal government.
Where UBI payments are recurring payments, whether it be weekly, monthly, or yearly, stimulus payments are issued just one time.
UBI programs are often funded with stimulus funds issued to states from the American Rescue Act in 2021.
Arizona UBI payments
Eligible families receiving payments in Phoenix, Arizona will receive $1,000 per month.
This will happen for 12 months, giving families a total of $12,000.
The UBI program was approved last September by the Phoenix City Council.

7,000 families were eligible, but only 1,000 could be selected using a lottery system.
A family of 4 could not exceed 80% of the AMI for Phoenix, which is $63,200.
In order to apply for UBI payments, families need to submit documentation proving their income.
Prepaid debit cards are being issued for families that needed to be picked up by appointment.
Every month $1,000 will be loaded onto the cards through the end of 2022.
$2,000 was loaded in Febaruary to make up for the January payment that wasn’t issued.
