Recall: Siluriformes products recalled for not being allowed to be imported from China

Yumei Foods USA has recalled 9,370 pounds of Siluriformes, or catfish, products on June 13, 2022.

recall issued for items with catfish imported from China

The recall is due to the product coming from the People’s Republic of China.

The People’s Republic of China is not allowed to export products to the United States.

The following products were issued the recall

  • 13.051 oz. (370g) plastic packages containing “FISH FILLET WITH SPICY SOUP” Freeze Dried Technology Fish. No Preservative.
  • 12.35 oz. (350g) plastic packages containing “FISH FILLET WITH PICKLED SOUP” Freeze Dried Technology Fish. No Preservative.

There is no establishment number or USDA inspection on these products.

Ready to eat salads have possible Listeria contamination

They were shipped to both retail and wholesale locations.

FSIS found the issue when watching imported products.

China can export processed and ready to eat Siluriformes products, which contain catfish, but these were raw and that is not allowed.

There have been no negative reactions reactions reported regarding the imported products.

What to do if you have the product that was issued a recall

FSIS is mainly concerned that people may still be in possession of the product.

If you do have it, you should throw it away or return it to where you purchased it.
