CONCRETE JUNGLE: The Best Teams in Baseball (podcast)

It was a big weekend for the New York baseball teams. Paul Russo and Kyle Evans return to the studio to break down the teams. The Yankees hosted the Tigers and took the series sweep against Detroit. With 29 scoreless innings at one point, the Yankee pitching staff is in a groove. Paul and Kyle discuss the impact of pitching coach Matt Blake. They also talk about the series the bats had, as Aaron Judge, Jose Trevino, and Anthony Rizzo flexed some muscle. Paul and Kyle also discuss Miguel Andujar’s trade request and the minor trade with Cincinnati for Jake Bauers. The Mets split a series with the Dodgers over the weekend. Paul and Kyle talk about the rough first two games for the offense, especially Thursday night when Taijuan Walker kept them in the game. The offense showed up on Saturday and Sunday as Pete Alonso bear smashed two balls into the LA night. Paul and Kyle also discuss the series coming up against the Padres.

In Rochester, the Red Wings take the series against Buffalo and expand their lead in the International League East. Paul and Kyle talk about the offensive leadership of Joey Meneses and the pitching heroes as the Wings head west to face the St. Paul Saints for the first time ever. East on the Thruway, Syracuse continues to struggle as they drop the series in Worcester. The guys talk about if anything can be done at this point as the better players get call ups to the big-league Mets and preview the series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
