The photo was shared extensively on social media after the house in Mantius had its siding stripped and wood frame damaged from the jolt.
Lightning is frightening (and dangerous)!

According to the person inside the home, an incredibly loud explosion was heard, shaking the house. Windows and glasses shattered- and a television was knocked over.
Following the strike, the house smelled like smoke from an electrical fire.
Manlius Fire Chief Greg Vandyke told CNYCentral that it was one of the more intense lightning strikes he’s seen.
“This is probably one of the more extensive ones that I’ve seen as far as traveling. You don’t usually get it where it travels through the ground but this must have hit just right,” he told CNYCentral.
The house didn’t suffer any damage beyond the localized spot.
