Traffic stop leads to DWAI arrest of Corning man

Police arrested a Corning man following a traffic stop.

According to a news release, State Police in Big Flats arrested Bruce K. Carpenter, 40, of Corning for driving while ability impaired.


Carpenter was initially stopped for speeding on Interstate 86 in the town of Big Flats. While interviewing Carpenter, the trooper detected an odor of marijuana along with signs of impairment. He submitted to standardized field sobriety testing and failed.

Carpenter was remanded to the Chemung County Jail.
