The Syracuse Mets scored a season-high 12 runs on 14 hits, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Columbus Clippers, 15-12, on Friday night at Huntington Park.
Connor Grey got the start for Syracuse and he allowed four runs on three hits over 3.1 innings while striking out one and walking three. The bullpen also really struggled as just one reliever recorded a scoreless appearance. Andrew Mitchell allowed five runs (four earned), Yennsy Diaz allowed four and Justin Dillon allowed two. Antonio Santos was the only one who did not allow a run out of the Mets bullpen.
Daniel Palka and Travis Blankenhorn each homered for Syracuse. Palka collected a team-high four RBI and Blankenhorn had three. Matt Vientos, Carlos Rincon Nick Dini and Cody Bohanek also each recorded a RBI.
Columbus was led by Oscar Gonzalez and Josh Palacios, who each notched four RBI.
The two teams will continue this six-game series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
