Right now, Starbucks offers a ten cent discount to customers who bring their own mugs. This practice was put on pause in 2020 because of the pandemic.
The discount might increase to 50 cents. There is also talk of adding a disposable cup fee.
Last year in Seattle, Starbucks tested their reusable cup program. The company charged a $1 deposit for a multi-use cup but refunded it when the cup was returned.
Starbucks has said that by the end of next year, customers will be able to use their personal reusable cup for any Starbucks visit in the US and Canada. That includes in he café, drive-thru, and mobile order.
