The East Rochester Bombers defeated the Frewsburg Bears, 60-57, in the New York State Class C Far West Regional at Rush-Henrietta High School on Saturday afternoon. They will advance to the NYS semifinal next Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College and will face the winner of Carle Place (VIII) vs. Millbrook (IX).
Eighth-grader Aniyah Eldridge was the hero of the game as she buried a three-pointer from the top of the key with 4.6 seconds remaining to give the Bombers a 58-55 lead and eventually the victory as it proved to be the game-winner.
East Rochester led after every quarter, but Frewsburg made big shots in the second half to make things interesting.
Four players finished in double figures for the Bombers. Senior captain Samantha Lewis netted a team-high 18 points, Lily Funk scored 16, Zarriah Eldridge added 13 and Bri Hickman rounded out the scoring with 10.
Teghan Trucki paced Frewsburg with a game-high 19 points.
