The Cornell men’s lacrosse team (5-0) held on for a 16-15 victory over Penn State (2-5) on Saturday afternoon at Holuba Hall to remain undefeated.
Cornell trailed 8-7 at the break but outscored Penn State 9-7 in the second half to secure the win.
John Piatelli netted five goals to lead the Big Red while Michael Long (4) and CJ Kirst (2) also finished with multi-goal games. Aiden Blake, Billy Coyle, Matt Licciardi, Hugh Kelleher and Danny Boccafola also found the back of the net.
Chayse Ierlan made 11 saves to earn his fifth win of the season.
Jeb Brenfleck and Ethan Long recored hat tricks for Penn State while Luke Mercer and Mac Costin scored twice. Grant Haus, Jack Kelly, Dan Reaume, Will Peden and Jake Morin also scored in the loss.
Aleric Fyock stopped 16 shots for the Nittany Lions.
Cornell will be back in action on Saturday, March 19 when they host Yale at 12 p.m.
