Veteran goaltender Craig Anderson stopped 30-of-31 shots to earn his 300th career win. He becomes the sixth American-born goaltender to win 300 games.
Buffalo finished 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
Victor Olofsson netted the game-winner. Peyton Krebs and Alex Tuch scored against their former team.
Ben Hutton scored the lone goal for Vegas.
Laurent Brossoit made 21 saves for the Golden Knights.
The Sabres get a couple days off before they face the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Heritage Classic on Sunday at Tim Horton’s Field in Hamilton, Ontario. Face-off is slated for 4 p.m.
