Food stamps: Fast food places accepting SNAP benefits

While millions of Americans collect food stamps to make ends meet, there are some who do not have the access or capability of preparing the food they buy with the benefits.

This has made it so some states allow recipients to use their SNAP benefits at fast food places where the food is already prepared.

This is part of the restaurant meals program, allowing some EBT cards to be used at these restaurants.

Other states are able to apply to the program through the federal government.

  • Have a disability
  • Homeless
  • Spouse of a client eligible for this program

  • Virginia

Illinois is running a pilot program in certain counties.

To qualify, the restaurant needs to request authorization.

New York is waiting on approval for the entire state to participate.

Changes in March could slash benefits by $100
