While millions of Americans collect food stamps to make ends meet, there are some who do not have the access or capability of preparing the food they buy with the benefits.
This has made it so some states allow recipients to use their SNAP benefits at fast food places where the food is already prepared.
Other states are able to apply to the program through the federal government.

These people need to show they cannot prepare food for themselves for various reasons to utilize their EBT card at restaurants.
Who can use food stamps at restaurants?
Everyone in the household receiving food stamps needs to meet the at least one of the following criteria
- Be 60 or older
- Have a disability
- Homeless
- Spouse of a client eligible for this program

Illinois is running a pilot program in certain counties.
To qualify, the restaurant needs to request authorization.
New York is waiting on approval for the entire state to participate.
