The Cornell men’s lacrosse team (3-0) defeated Hobart (2-1), 15-12, on Tuesday evening at Schoellkopf Field.
Hobart led 2-0 after the first period and 5-4 at the half, but then the Cornell offense came alive. The Big Red outscored the Statesmen 11-7 in the second half to secure the victory.
Cornell was led by Bill Coyle’s four goals. CJ Kirst and Hugh Kelleher each recored hat tricks. Aiden Blake and John Piatelli each scored twice and Matt Licciardi also netted a goal to round out the scoring for the Big Red.
Chayse Ierlan made 10 saves to earn his third win of the season.
John Herlihy led Hobart with four goals. Ryan Archer, Derrek Madonna and Bradley Simas each tallied two goals. Brian Mitrow and Anthony Dattellas also scored for the Statesmen.
Kevin Holtby made 13 saves in the loss.
Cornell is back in action on Saturday when they host Ohio State University at 12 p.m.
Hobart will face Syracuse in the Kraus-Simmons Trophy Game on Sunday at the Carrier Dome. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
