Fisheries on the Great Lakes are now eligible to receive federal funding if they were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced the availability of $2 million in funds through the New York Great Lakes Fisheries Relief Program on February 28, 2022, according to Rochester First. The money was made available through the federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.
Eligible businesses can apply for funds from March 1 through April 15, 2022. Guidelines say applicants must demonstrate a 35% fishery-related revenue loss from March 1 through December 31, 2022, or January 1 through December 31, 2021.
