Food stamps: How does rollover of benefits work?

Food stamps, also known as SNAP benefits, are used by millions of Americans every year. What happens to balances when the year ends?

SNAP benefits are sent out to households, and around 9.2% of all American households get the benefits.

When you have a balance left at the end of the month, it carries over into the next month.

Food stamps are removed from your EBT card after 9 months of not being used.

This means if you have benefits left at the end of Dec. 2022, they will be in your account Jan. 2023.
