State police cruiser struck by driver on I-81 in snowy collision

A New York State Police officer was not injured, but her cruiser suffered serious damage after a crash on I-81 in Jefferson County.

State police say a trooper was outside her patrol vehicle, checking on a disabled vehicle when it was struck by a Jeep on I-81.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Antoinette Brackins, 25, of Illinois was traveling south on I-81. She struck the police cruiser, then a second vehicle operated by Nicole Brackus, 20, of Watertown.

Brackins and a 20-year-old male passenger were transported by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center with minor injuries. Brackus and a 20-year-old passenger were also transported to that hospital.

The investigation remains active.
