The William Smith College basketball team snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 94-36 Liberty League win at Bard College Saturday afternoon. The Herons shot a season-high 54.7% from the floor and dished out a season-high 25 assists against the Raptors.
Brooke Jarvis and Olivia Parisi led William Smith with 23 points apiece. Jarvis also grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Lauren DeVaney contributed 10 points, seven boards, and a game-high six assists. Both Fiona Horan and Maddie Patrick also recorded 10 points.
Bard’s Christina Kiser accounted for more than 58% of her team’s scoring, finishing with 21 points. Olivia Couture chipped in 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
William Smith started the game on fire, making 11-of-16 from the floor, including four 3-pointers. They led 28-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Herons turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, limiting the Raptors to just 1-of-13 shooting, on the way to a 49-17 halftime lead.
Jarvis had 15 first half points, while Parisi netted 11.
William Smith sent all 10 of its healthy players into the game and everyone scored at least two points.
The Herons will begin the final week of the regular season with a 5-16 overall record, including a 4-10 mark in the Liberty League. William Smith will play four times, all at home, in the final six days of the regular season beginning with a 6 p.m. tipoff on Monday, Feb. 14 against Clarkson (5-16, 4-11). Bard (1-19, 0-15) will make the return trip to Geneva on Tuesday.
Friday will see league-leader Vassar (16-6, 15-1) in Bristol Gym, while the Herons will wrap up the regular season against Rensselaer (5-16, 4-12) on Saturday.
