The Syracuse Crunch were defeated by the Laval Rocket, 6-2, on Thursday night at Place Bell.
Crunch goaltender Amir Miftakhov turned aside 10-of-12 shots before being relieved by Corbin Kaczperski to start the second period. Kaczperski stopped 11-of-14 shots. Kevin Poulin made 23 saves for the Rocket.
Syracuse was unable to convert on their two power play opportunities while Laval went 1-for-1.
Gabriel Dumont and Anthony Richard scored for the Crunch.
Cameron Hillis scored twice for Laval while Peter Abbandonato, Louie Belpedio, Gabriel Bourque and Joel Teasdale also tallied.
The two teams will play again on Friday at Upstate Medical University Arena. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
