Officials in Cayuga County say they will join others lifting the mask mandate that’s been in place since mid-December.
On Wednesday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the mask mandate would come to an end on Thursday. In support of that announcement, Cayuga County Legislature Chair David Gould and Health Director Kathleen Cuddy lifted the measure in their county.
There are certain locations in Cayuga County that will need to follow the current mandates which includes the continuation of masks wearing.
“As we continue our way through this pandemic, local governments, businesses, and worksites have the option to decide if they wish to continue requiring masks or proof of vaccination,” Gould said in a statement.
He added that he was ‘very glad’ that the decision was made.
