The Chicago Bears have reportedly requested an interview with Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier to fill their head coaching vacancy, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The news comes after the team fired head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday.
Frazier has spent the past five years running the Bills defense and also has four seasons of head coaching experience with the Minnesota Vikings.
The 62-year-old had limited success during his last run as head coach, finishing 21-32-1 with one playoff appearance. He was fired after going 5-10-1 in 2013.
Frazier has still been one of the top defensive coordinators in the NFL in recent years, leading a unit that ranked first in the NFL in both points and yards allowed in 2021. The squad has finished in the top three in yards allowed in three of the last four years and have now reached the playoffs in four of his five years in Buffalo.
The Bills had gone 17 seasons without a postseason berth before Frazier arrived with head coach Sean McDermott in 2017.
The success could be enough for Frazier to get another shot as an NFL head coach.
