William Smith basketball falls at Ithaca, 82-52

Kerstin Kelly was a perfect 5-for-5 behind the 3-point arc, scoring a team-high 15 points against Ithaca College this afternoon. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to power William Smith College past the Bombers, who defended their home court 82-52.

In addition to her perfect shooting day, Kelly also shared team-high honors with six rebounds and two steals. Olivia Parisi added 14 points, sinking all six of her free throw attempts. Lauren DeVaney chipped in nine points, six rebounds and a team-high three assists.

Ithaca (7-3, 3-1) shot 51% from the floor, with nine 3-pointers. The Bombers finished plus-12 in rebounding margin and plus-10 in turnover margin. Cara Volpe led four Ithaca players in double figures with 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Grace Cannon netted 12 points and collected a game-high seven boards.

After a tightly contested first quarter that saw the Bombers build a 14-11 lead, the home team pulled away with a 17-7 run to start the second quarter. Grace Cannon led Ithaca with six points during the surge. The Herons struggled in the second making just 2-of-6 from the floor while committing seven turnovers.

The Bombers continued to press their advantage throughout the second half, heading into the final 10 minutes with a 60-36 lead on the way to the 30-point victory.

William Smith (3-7, 2-2) will return to Bristol Gym to face Skidmore (6-2, 1-2) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11.
