Everyone got out safely, but a home in Elbridge was destroyed by an overnight fire. The investigation into the cause of that fire remains active.
Firefighters from Cayuga and Onondaga counties were called to the scene, where flames could be seen coming from the structure on all sides.
The fire was at a residence on the Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery property in Elbridge. Among other buildings, the residential structure was where family members of the hatchery grew up. At least one person still lived in the home.
Unfortunately, the fire fight moved to exterior only quickly after first responders arrived due to spread of the flames. The home was a total loss.
Among the Cayuga County fire departments to respond were Weedsport, Sennett, and Throop.
Editor’s Note: Information from this call was provided by the Cayuga-Seneca Fire Wire. Click here to see the full list of agencies that responded from both counties.
