Quarantine could be getting shorter for healthcare workers. That was the message this week from Dr. Anthony Fauci and other top health officials as Omicron puts new pressure on hospitals and healthcare systems across the U.S.
“We want to be careful that we don’t keep them out of action for that long period of time,” Fauci told NBC News “So there’s at least consideration of diminishing the quarantine time to get them back to work safely.”
Omicron accounts for nearly 75% of all COVID-19 cases in the U.S. right now.
At this point, the recommended quarantine period is still 10 days. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention could modify that in the coming days and weeks.
