The Yates Community Center is launching a $2.2 million dollar fundraising campaign to build a 9,000 square foot fieldhouse for indoor sports, including lacrosse and community events.
Community Center officials say they’ve outgrown their current space. They say if they can build the new facility, they’ll be able to serve six times as many members of the community as in the past. Matching funds are available from the state. The center also hopes to add some new outdoor facilities as well. According to a survey, Yates County has the lowest access to physical activity locations in a six county area.
