Detectives identify victim in Newark homicide investigation after body found on Marie Avenue

Deputies have identified the body that was found in the village of Newark early Friday morning.

Police responded to the report of a body in the road on Marie Avenue in the village of Newark around 7 a.m.

They found a deceased male, and as the investigation unfolded – it turned into a homicide investigation.

Deputies believe the homicide occurred at some point during the night before.

They identified the victim as Byron Wilder, 48, of Lyons.

Deputies are asking anyone with information to call 315-946-9711.
