According to a news release on Thursday around 10:45 p.m. police responded to the Courtyard Apartments for the report of a man who was attacked by an unknown male with a knife.
The victim stated that he was leaving his apartment when the unknown male ran toward him, pulling out a knife, and attempting to stab him.
The victim then attempted to flee back to his apartment as the assailant continued to try and stab the victim in the doorway of the apartment.
The victim was able to close the door, and the assailant, later identified as Kevin Vazquez-Soto, 28, of Geneva, fled the scene.
The victim had to be transported to Clifton Springs Hospital for treatment.
After an intense investigation a search warrant was executed at Vazquez-Soto’s residence, where he was taken into custody. Police say he was charged with first-degree burglary.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s SWAT Team assisted with the search warrant.
