Hobart College earned two of the Liberty League’s four weekly football awards. Free safety Blake Hansen was named the Special Teams Performer of the Week and linebacker Bryan Aguilar was recognized as the Defensive Performer of the Week.

Hobart won the ECAC Asa S. Bushnell Bowl 21-3 at Westminster College on Saturday, finishing the season with a 9-2 record. The Statesmen limited the Titans to just a lone first-quarter field goal, their lowest scoring output of the season. It also marked the first time this year that Westminster didn’t throw at least one touchdown pass.

Hansen was named the MVP of the game, recording a game-high 14 tackles, including eight solo. He also broke up a pass and blocked a punt, which he recovered and returned for a touchdown. With Hobart leading 7-0 in the first quarter, Hansen blocked a punt deep in Westminster territory, recovered it at the 11 and ran into the end zone untouched for his first collegiate TD.

Hansen played in all 11 games this season, recording 45 tackles, three pass breakups and an interception. He has appeared in 22 career games, logging 60 tackles and six pass breakups.

Aguilar had nine tackles on Saturday. In the third quarter with the Titans in the red zone, he forced a fumble that the Statesmen recovered. It was one of four turnovers the Hobart defense came up with in the game.

In 10 games this season, Aguilar produced a team-high 85 tackles, including four for loss, and half a sack. In 26 career games, he has 126 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
