A new vaccine is working to attack the novel coronavirus, not just the antibodies that attack the spike protein.
The vaccine was created by a French French pharmaceutical company called Valneva. The vaccine is designed to create an imune response that attacks the entire virus.
At the moment, all available vaccines only attack the spike protein, while when this vaccine attacks the virus it renders it incapable of spreading illness throughout the body.
Flu and polio vaccines work similarly.
Trials have been successful and Valneva appears more effective than AstraZeneca. It’s expected to be approved in Europe soon.
