There may be millions of positive COVID-19 cases going undetected in Africa

A new study by the World Health Organization discovered that only one of seven positive COVID-19 cases are being detected.

This makes it possible that the infection level could be as high as 59 million people.

To keep better track, the U.N. is working to set up rapid testing in 8 countries in Africa over the next year.

The plan is to test 7 million people.

This data solidifies the need to get vaccines accessible to the population in Africa.

Right now only 30% of 54 countries have vaccinated 10% of their populations. The high income countries have hit 90%.
