The Mu Variant was a cause of concern for many when it was first reported, but recently it hasn’t appeared to be present.
Brian Lewis, research associate professor at the University of Virginia’s Biocomplexity Institute, said though it’s been spreading in Virginia, it’s unlikely to go far as it has trouble beating Delta out for dominance.
According to the Staunton News Leader, Virginia has a dashboard for which variants are spreading, and Mu isn’t on it.
Many strains on that page are variants of concern, but the Mu strain is only of interest to the WHO.
While Mu appears to be lingering around, most focus is directed toward Delta, with the death and hospitalization rates so high because of it.
