In September, the Geneva City School District’s superintendent was placed on paid leave by the Board of Education, and now the teacher’s union in Geneva no longer supports her.
It was announced Tuesday that the teachers union would no longer be supporting her leadership role with Geneva City Schools.
According to the Finger Lakes Times, Jill Humphries, the president of the Geneva Teachers Association, shared with the board that 98% of the 235 union members voted and 99% did not support her.
Some people defended Garcia, claiming race and gender were factors in her treatment, or that the issue needed to be fully investigated before judgements are made.
