Senators are proposing a bill that would allow teens to receive the COVID-19 vaccine without parental consent.
The proposal would allow teens ages 14 and up to get the vaccine without their parents knowledge.
The vaccines that teens can get without parental knowledge must be required by law.
In 2019 the World Health Organization listed the anti-vaccination movement as one of the top threats to the health of the world.
The bill states, “These vaccinations must meet the standards approved by the United States Public Health Service, and be consistent with recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or the New York State Department of Health under such conditions as may be specified by the Public Health Council.”
