Many districts are struggling this school year with obtaining bus drivers, but Auburn City School District superintendent Jeff Pirrozollo says they’ve had that issue for years.
He said the state changing the regulations for the CDL license is a major factor because a bus driver can’t just drive a bus, they need to know everything about the vehicle and its engine as well.
He added bus drivers need to quarantine regularly and some have even contracted the virus.
The district is currently short staffed by 13 drivers.
