The first ever Cannabis Control Board was held Tuesday in Albany virtually.
Tasks discussed included its work of overseeing the licensing of cannabis businesses and the approval of actions taken by the Office of Cannabis Management.
Senior staff was appointed as well as Jason Starr as the Chief Equity Officer.
Starr will establish the social and economic equity program to work first on licensing communities disproportionally impacted by the War on Drugs.
The ongoing implementation of key provisions of the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act were discussed as well as changes to the Medical Cannabis Program.
Changes include expanding which medical professionals are allowed to certify patients, increasing the amount given, waiving the registration fee, and streamlining approval for facilities to hold and dispense products to their patients.
