New England area has high vaccine rates, yet still sees a surge in positive COVID cases

Hospitals in the New England area are seeing a surge in COVID, and it’s causing full ICUs amid staff shortages.

Despite New England having the highest vaccine rate in the entire country, the numbers for hospitalizations and deaths are still the same, or worse, than peak COVID-19 numbers.

These infections are mainly happening with the unvaccinated population. Vaccine rates for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont remain between 61.5% and 69.4%.

Healthcare experts express frustration while kids are in school and states are attempting to get the spread under control.

They urge everyone to get the vaccine in order to help stop the spread among the unvaccinated.
