Two arrests made in connection to armed robbery in Ithaca on Sept. 11

On Sept. 11 the Ithaca Police Department responded to an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim who said two men robbed him of his money.

During the attack one of the men took a handgun from his backpack and began hitting the victim in the head with it.

Due to the injuries, the victim struggled to remember the exact location of the robbery but it was determined to have happened at the playground of INHS Housing Complex on Plain Street.

The victim was taken to a trauma center for treatment of injuries to his head and face.

Following an investigation, on Sept. 23 the Ithaca Police Department arrested Jai K. Jones, 18, of Ithaca, and an underage juvenile for the robbery.

Jones was arraigned and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail and is being held on $5,000 cash bail.

The juvenile was arraigned in the Tompkins County Superior Court as a juvenile and released to a parent.

The weapon has been recovered.
