UPDATE: Steuben County Sheriff’s Office identifies the deceased person following flooding in Steuben County

Officials in Steuben County say the coroner was called to the scene of a missing man who was caught in floodwaters this week.

It happened on Thursday, according to officials, who said that the coroner responded to the missing person incident. They declined to comment any further on the issue.

Police recovered Richard Kelley, 71, of Prattsburgh, who had been seen operating a UTV near Trout Creek.

He was located in the creek near Dinehart Crossing Road unresponsive.

The area of the scene was part of Route 53.

A flood advisory had been issued in the area after heavy rain during the morning.
