One of the exonerated 5 wrongly accused of rape in 1989 became the first recipient of Syracuse University’s honorary degree

During Syracuse University’s Class of 2020 commencement ceremony, Kevin Richardson earned the first ever honorary undergraduate degree from the school.

Richardson is one of the exonerated five men that was wrongly convicted of rape in 1989 when he was only a teenager.

At 14 he was sent to prison instead of fulfilling his dreams of playing in the marching band for Syracuse University and earning a fine arts degree.

On Sunday he was able to get that SU degree.
